In addition to hygiene, grooming is an essential step in keeping your dog looking neat, clean, and ready to attract attention. Our trained team will ensure that every dog, from the smallest to the largest, looks perfect, whether they are a hotel guest, visiting a daycare center, or not.

Why choose AvAv Grooming?

Here’s everything you need to know about our dog grooming spa/salon, from arrival to pick-up:
A treatment for your pet at AvAv’s hair salon can last from 1 to 4 hours, depending on the size of your dog, the type of fur, and the services you choose. We recommend waiting for a call from the groomer to let you know that your dog is ready to go home.

Consultation

We start by examining the condition of your dog’s coat for 5-10 minutes. One of our groomers will assess your pet’s skin, fur, ears, and nails to determine the grooming services that best suit their needs. Please let us know of any additional concerns, preferences, or individual requirements you may have at this time.

Brushing and Grooming

Next, we spend 10-30 minutes brushing, combing, and trimming your pet to remove excess hair or tangles before the bath. Our groomers also trim your pet’s nails and clean their ears.

Relaxing Bath

After brushing, we give your pet a relaxing 10-30 minute bath with the Urban Dog brand shampoo you agreed upon at check-in, unless a medicated shampoo bath is required. All our shampoos, conditioners, and conditioners are pH balanced specifically for pets and provide gentle cleansing without drying their skin.

Custom Drying

We then dry your pet with a special towel before using our blow dryers, which do not heat up and have adjustable speeds/volume settings based on your dog’s tolerance. Our team uses the best drying method for your pet’s breed and needs to ensure their safety and comfort.

Haircut and Finishing Touches

The final 30 minutes+ of your pet’s treatment is dedicated to adjusting their hairstyle and ensuring that there are no additional tangles. If your pet only received a bath service, this time will be used for grooming, including checking nails, wiping ears, and adding the finishing touches to get them ready for pick-up.

Prior to salon services, we require proof of rabies vaccination for your pet and we ask that you bring a leash.

A leash for your dog.

. If you have a specific style or hairstyle in mind, please bring a photo to share with our trained stylists.

Are your groomers knowledgeable about my pet's breed?

Each of our Certified Graduate Dog Stylists at AvAv Happy Dog completes over 800 hours of training, which includes hands-on experience with a wide range of breeds. During this training, our stylists learn about breed-specific needs and hairstyles. Our fully trained staff adapts to your personal preferences and requirements to make your pet look and feel their best.

What if my pet does not like to be groomed or has had a traumatic experience in the past?

Our trained hairdressers create a positive atmosphere throughout the grooming process and prioritize the comfort and well-being of your pet. Our stylists are safety certified and can work slowly for pets who are hesitant about being bathed or trimmed. If the safety of the pet or the groomer is at risk, we may stop the treatment. Please inform us of any special requirements when booking your appointment to ensure a positive experience.

How can I obtain an estimate for grooming costs?

Prices for basic packages are based on your pet's breed, coat condition, and coat maintenance. To obtain an accurate price estimate before your appointment, please call your salon.

How long will my pet's grooming appointment last?

The time it takes to groom a pet varies by breed and service, but it generally lasts between 1-4 hours. Smaller services, such as nail trimming, take approximately 15 minutes and do not require an appointment, subject to salon availability.

Will my pet be sedated?

We never give sedatives to pets, nor do we accept pets that have been sedated. If your dog has a strong behavioral reaction to grooming or bathing, please inform us when you book your appointment and when you arrive. If the pet is uncooperative or uncomfortable with the process, we may end the session, but we will never administer a sedative.

Will my pet have access to food and water?

We provide fresh water for all salon pets during their visit, however, our staff does not provide pet food.

How do you accommodate older pets?

For older pets with mobility issues or who tire easily, we offer an express service to minimize salon time. Please ask your stylist for details.

Is an appointment required in advance?

Yes, appointment booking is required for grooming services. We are unable to accommodate walk-ins.

What is your guarantee for an outstanding appearance?

We promise that you will love the way your pet looks after visiting our salon, and we will do whatever it takes to make it right if you are not satisfied.

Can I observe the grooming process?

Yes, you may stay and monitor the process. However, for the safety of the pets, we do not allow pet owners to assist in the grooming or bathing areas.

Do you provide flea and tick treatment for my dog?

No. Please contact your veterinarian for this type of treatment.

What should I do to prepare for my pet's grooming appointment?

Prior to scheduling a grooming appointment for your pet, it's important to consider their overall health and any underlying medical conditions that may put them at greater risk of stress or injury during the grooming process.

Pets that have recently been vaccinated, are on their period, have active infections, or have underlying health issues may be more susceptible to stress injuries and we do not schedule appointments during these conditions. It's also important to inform your groomer of any special challenges your pet may have, such as mobility issues, recent injuries, or behavioral concerns.

To ensure a positive grooming experience for your pet, it's important to understand their individual stress and anxiety triggers.

Our salon can be a noisy place and may cause anxiety in some pets. For example, some pets may feel uncomfortable around other animals or when exposed to loud noises, such as barking or water jets. Be sure to share any stress triggers with your stylist, as well as any calming techniques that work well for your pet.

To help your pet acclimate to the grooming process, we recommend visiting our salon a few days prior to their appointment to meet with our hairdresser. This will help your pet get used to the activity, smells, and sounds of the salon. Additionally, when your pet is still young, it can be helpful to prepare them for grooming by touching their paws during playtime and using common household items, such as an electric toothbrush, to acclimate them to the noise of clippers and nail grinders.

Grooming your pet on a regular basis, whether at home or with a professional groomer, is essential to their overall health and well-being. Regular grooming allows for your pet to be checked for any abnormalities, such as ticks, fleas, dry patches, or issues with their nails, teeth, ears, and eyes. We recommend grooming or bathing your pet once every four to six weeks to keep them happy and healthy.
